Lagunanet: Providing local access to the Lakeside area, Lagunanet has been functional since late July 1997. 60 hours of access are $37.00 USD per month, with contract options of: 3 months = $100.00; 6 months $180.00; 1 year $325.00; 2 years $600.00
Advantages: It is here and it works.
Disadvantages: For the areas of San Juan Cosala and Jocotopec, the call to the server is still long distance. This will change if and when Telmex makes these local calls local!

The providers in Guadalajara (below) are also access points for Lake Chapala, but all involve long distance charges.
Compuserve: $138 pesos (USD $18.65) per month for 5 hours
and 1 MB of e-mail space.
Advantages: It's Compuserve
Disadvantages:
It's Expensive - If you prefer Compuserve, it is less expensive to open your account in Canada or the US.
Universidad de Guadalajara: $130 pesos (USD $17.57) per
month for 30 hours and 1 MB of e-mail. 50 hour plans also available.
Advantages: Fastest server in Guadalajara.
Disadvantages: Getting
in is not always easy, incessant ringing or busy signals, also you will
want to use your own software to connect to them as theirs is, in my
opinion, deficient.
Infosel: $500 pesos (USD $67.57) per month for 100 hours and 1 MB of e-mail. 10 and 30 hour plans available. Advantages: You can always get into Infosel. Disadvantages: Not very fast as they do not have an actual server in Guadalajara but a router to Monterrey.
Vianet: See their Page on Mexico Connect. Vianet Info Page or Paginas de Información.
They are now providing access portals the world over.
America On Line: The good news is that it does exist here, the bad news is that in order to log on you have to call to Mexico City as they do not yet have a number in Guadalajara that I am aware of.
Apparently the only ISP offering an "all you can eat" plan. $200 initiation fee, $300/month (pesos), cash only, discount for year's prepayment. 28.8 bps.
Discount for year's prepayment, credit cards accepted. Earnest, helpful staff.
(supposedly the fastest & most expensive of the lot)
