John Pint was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA but now makes his home in Guadalajara Mexico except when he is wandering about beneath the deserts of Saudi Arabia exploring caves. Pint is author of Desert Caves of Saudi Arabia, but by profession is a teacher trainer in the field of Teaching English as a Foreign Language and specializes in an approach called The Silent Way. He has written numerous books for EFL students, including four volumes of a self-study course published by Encyclopedia Britannica. However, his most recent book, written in collaboration with his wife, Susy, is a guide to exploring out-of-the-way corners of western Mexico and is appropriately titled: Outdoors in Western Mexico. An updated version of the book is expected to be published in 2009. This book also appeared in Spanish as Al Aire Libre en las Cercanías de Guadalajara in 2007.
Pint writes a weekly column for the Guadalajara Reporter and is webmaster for three internet sites. One of these deals with cave exploration and outdoor adventures in western Mexico. Another focuses on caves and natural wonders in Saudi Arabia.
